Founded in 1948, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest HR membership organization devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 275,000 members in over 160 countries, the Society is the leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the professional practice of human resource management. SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China, India and United Arab Emirates.
SHRM has more than 575 affiliate chapters both in the United States and abroad, which provide additional programming and networking opportunities in your local area. SHRM chapters are autonomous organizations, so it is not automatic that you will be a member of your local chapter when you join SHRM at the national level, and vice versa.
The purpose of this organization is to promote Human Resource Management knowledge on campus, to organize students with similar interest, and to interact with the Kern County SHRM Chapter.
The National Society of Human Resource Management as awarded BPA’s local SHRM student organization the Superior Merit Award for the 2015-2016 academic year. To be eligible for an award, a student chapter must meet all the chapter affiliation requirements and complete a variety of activities to earn points. Activities include chapter operations, fundraising, legislative advocacy, hosting seminars or conferences, interacting with the local professional SHRM chapters, attending SHRM conferences, supporting the SHRM Foundation and participating in internships, mentorships and promoting or taking the Assurance of Learning exam. The chapter will be recognized at the SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition in Washington DC, June 19 – June 22, 2016.
