The John Brock Committee and California State University, Bakersfield’s (CSUB) School of Business and Public Administration (BPA) proudly announce Rogers Brandon as this year’s recipient of the prestigious John Brock Community Service Award. Brandon will be honored during a recognition dinner on September 6, 2018, at Seven Oaks Country Club.
Rogers Brandon is the president of American General Media (AGM). Brandon has been serving the Bakersfield community since joining the family-owned company in 1978. Under Brandon and his brother’s leadership, AGM has evolved into a modern broadcast and digital company owning and operating radio stations and media outlets throughout the United States.
Brandon has served many roles in the community, including president of The Rotary Club of Bakersfield; chairman of the Bakersfield Museum of Art, the California State University, Bakersfield Foundation, and the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Foundation.
In being notified of the award, Brandon said, “I am humbled to receive this recognition from such a distinguished group. I greatly admired John Brock and feel honored to receive this award so aptly named for him.”
“I am very pleased that Rogers Brandon has been chosen for the prestigious John Brock Sr. Community Service Award,” said Dr. Angappa “Guna” Gunasekaran, Dean of the School of the Business and Public Administration. “Rogers is truly an outstanding leader whose contribution to Kern County is well-known and duly recognized by the community. As president of American General Media and chairman of many non-profit organizations, he clearly demonstrates his passion and dedication to serve the community. Rogers is an example for innovation, entrepreneurship, and developing future business leaders for Kern County and beyond.”
Proceeds from the recognition dinner help fund the CSUB John Brock Endowment, which provides scholarships and program support for students in CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration. Scholarships will be presented at the event to this year’s scholarship recipients. Tickets for the event are $175 per person.
