The John Brock Committee and CSU Bakersfield’s School of Business and Public Administration (BPA) proudly announce Chris Frank as this year’s recipient of the prestigious John Brock Community Service Award. Frank will be honored during a recognition dinner on September 10, 2015 at Seven Oaks Country Club.
Frank has been a cornerstone of the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce serving as President and CEO for over seventeen years, most recently as the interim President/CEO. Milestones during her leadership include the doubling of the Chamber’s membership and overseeing construction of the Chamber’s current headquarters building on Eye Street.
In addition to her pivotal role with the Chamber, Frank has served in a number of community organizations and on a multitude of organizational boards. Her work and memberships include the Western Association of Chamber Executives, the United States Chamber of Commerce, SUPERCHEX, Future of Bakersfield Foundation, Greater Bakersfield Vision 2020, the Fox Foundation, Kern Transportation, Bakersfield Downtown Rotary Club, the San Joaquin Community Hospital Board of Directors, San Joaquin Community Hospital Foundation Board, and BARC.
Her contributions to the community have been greatly appreciated and recognized. Prior to the John Brock recognition, Chris Frank was named “Woman of the Year” in 2013 by Senator Jean Fuller.
In being notified of the award, Frank said, "I am incredibly honored to be named the recipient of the John Brock Award for 2015. Bakersfield is home to our family, and it is my privilege to work in any capacity to make it the best place possible. The fact that the proceeds from this event support scholarships for our students makes it all the more special, and I am so very humbled by this honor".
The award recipient is selected by the John Brock Committee comprised of members of the Executive Advisory Council of CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration. The group includes approximately 25 business and community leaders who provide advice and support to the school.
“For years, Chris Frank has proven to be an exceptional member of the Bakersfield community,” said John Emery, Dean of CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration. “Her continued participation in organizations that are so important to our community, and her prestigious recognitions, made her the ideal candidate for this year’s John Brock Community Service Award.”
Proceeds from the recognition dinner help fund the CSUB John Brock Endowment, which provides scholarships for students in CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration. Scholarships will be presented at the event to this year’s four recipients. Tickets for the event are $150 per person. Corporate table sponsorships are also available. Tickets may be purchased by calling 661-654-2157.
