Kern Economic Journal Founder
Dr. Abbas Grammy, Professor of Economics for the School of Business and Public Administration at California State University, Bakersfield, is the founder of the Kern Economic Journal. KEJ is a quarterly publication (February, May, August, and November) that tracks and analyzes economic trends that affect the well-being of Kern County. KEJ serves to provide primary data on consumer confidence and business outlook, as well as secondary data on a wide range of economic indicators to help the community make more informed decisions.
Dr. Grammy was the Publisher and Managing Editor from the time of KEJ's inception in 1999 until February 2015. He has passed the role onto two assistant professors that recently joined the Economics Department, Richard Gearhart (Ph.D., Clemson University) and Nyakundi Michieka (Ph.D., West Virginia University).
